PRESS RELEASE - 2009

Supply & Demand Chain Executive Announces Its 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards

New York — November 4, 2009

Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine, the executive's user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, this week announced the recipients of its 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards, highlighting companies that stand out for their projects to incorporate sustainability objectives into their own supply chains or to enable sustainability in their customers' supply chains.

The convergence of public pressure, government regulations and corporate social responsibility initiatives is driving increasing numbers of organizations to view "green" and "sustainability" as necessary components of their supply chain strategies. To a great degree, sustainability has become a "must have" for increasing numbers of companies.

"Even in the wake of the recession, 'sustainability' has become an essential focus for organizations that would seek to maintain their competitive advantage, protect their market share and preserve their brand image," said Andrew K. Reese, editor, Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "The 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards highlights this paradigm shift and the role of the supply chain as a key enabler of sustainability."

The 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards recognizes companies that are taking steps to realize green or sustainable supply chain objectives within their own operations and/or supply chains, in the areas of Sourcing/Procurement, Fulfillment/Logistics, Operations, Product Lifecycle Management, and other areas of the supply chain. "As in the past, our goal with this year's 'Green Awards' is to highlight the range of approaches and solutions that companies are employing to address sustainability in the supply chain, and our readers can use this information as a baseline to assess their own efforts in this regard," Reese said.

The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services that are assisting their customers in meeting green or sustainable supply chain goals. "The corporate executives and line-of-business leaders who rely on our magazine want to know about the innovative offerings from the different supply chain solution and service providers that are enabling supply chain sustainability," Reese added.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive collected submissions for the 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards through an online nominations process. The magazine reviewed the submissions based on the clarity and content of the goals and strategy, the extent of the steps being taken, and the impact of the results to date and projected results.

From among the nominated companies Supply & Demand Chain Executive selected those firms that stood out for their projects to incorporate sustainability objectives into their own supply chains or to enable sustainability in their customers' supply chains.
